I’m a huge advocate of regular stretching before and after exercise and all through our day. Effective stretching is not limited to the gym and our workouts. We can stretch in our street clothes, at work, at home and on the go. Stretching is a simple way to facilitate circulation, alleviate pain and reduce stress. Below are 6 simple stretches we can do anywhere. All we need is a railing, counter or equally sturdy ledge.
- Attempt each stretch carefully.
- Exhale as you go into each stretch.
- Hold each stretch for at least 15-20 seconds. Longer is better.
- Listen to your body. Carefully assess stretches that exacerbate pain or discomfort.
